She says that Tim Burton backed this story。 It’s definitely different than the Nightmare Before Christmas but it is nice to get to see into the doorways and new worlds。

Sally Skellington， nearly married and newly crowned Pumpkin Queen， isn’t so sure she’s fit for the job。 When she discovers a hidden doorway in the grove of trees， she unleashes a new enemy into the realms。 Suddenly alone， Sally must face her fears or lose everything she loves。 2。5 stars （rounded up）____________As a big Shea Ernshaw fan， and a bigger fan of The Nightmare Before Christmas， I was overwhelmed to receive an audio ARC of Long Live the Pumpkin Queen in exchange for an honest review。All Sally Skellington， nearly married and newly crowned Pumpkin Queen， isn’t so sure she’s fit for the job。 When she discovers a hidden doorway in the grove of trees， she unleashes a new enemy into the realms。 Suddenly alone， Sally must face her fears or lose everything she loves。 2。5 stars （rounded up）____________As a big Shea Ernshaw fan， and a bigger fan of The Nightmare Before Christmas， I was overwhelmed to receive an audio ARC of Long Live the Pumpkin Queen in exchange for an honest review。All your favorite spooky Halloween Town pals return in this sequel to the very beloved movie。 This Sally focused plot and narrative was an interesting exploration of Sally， her feelings and more importantly - her past。 But the Sally we are given is a weak version of the beloved heroine。 Gone is the ambitious Sally， who feeds her captor poison to see her beloved - replaced by a weak-minded and feebly version of Sally， who second guesses herself and her choices。 There isn’t much character growth given because her character by the end feels like Sally from the movie。 I wish we had gotten that strong willed rag doll growing into something better。 This book is so heavy focused on her， I wish she had been a better version of her。The plot of this book was okay， but not great。 It was fun to explore more of the existing realms in the tree grove and see new ones added。 But Dream Town felt out of place in a grove of holiday realms。 The uprooting of Sally’s past as it relates to Dream Town was startling and unsuccessful for me。 I wish this story had taken Sally and given her a better story altogether， as this one just fell sort of flat。The narrator’s character voices were unnecessary but I understand the effect that was trying to be met， but it just didn’t hit。 I wish this book had done things better because a Nightmare Before Christmas deserved a better sequel。 I wouldn’t go out of my way to recommend it。 。。。more

I was absolutely blown away by this story。 It is completely relatable with feelings of inadequacy and being overwhelmed。 It really felt like a continuation of the original story。 I could picture the characters doing the things described along with their facial expressions。 Her words played out like a movie in my head。 It was everything I could have hoped for and more。 I have always wondered about Sally’s origin and if the things we knew to be true were really lies。 Honestly， I do not think this I was absolutely blown away by this story。 It is completely relatable with feelings of inadequacy and being overwhelmed。 It really felt like a continuation of the original story。 I could picture the characters doing the things described along with their facial expressions。 Her words played out like a movie in my head。 It was everything I could have hoped for and more。 I have always wondered about Sally’s origin and if the things we knew to be true were really lies。 Honestly， I do not think this story could have been any more perfect。 5/5 ⭐️’s。 This book has also made me want to read all of Ernshaw’s books as this was my first by her。 Highly highly recommend this one！ 。。。more

What a magical experience！！ As a long time fan of the original Nightmare Before Christmas movie， this continuation tugged at my heart strings。 The story included so many beloved characters that made it feel like there was no pause between the movie and the book。 The author kept true to Sally’s personality as well as Jack’s while adding a little more to all the other side characters we’ve come to love。 The storyline held mystery and adventure and the surprise reveal of Sally’s past had me gasping What a magical experience！！ As a long time fan of the original Nightmare Before Christmas movie， this continuation tugged at my heart strings。 The story included so many beloved characters that made it feel like there was no pause between the movie and the book。 The author kept true to Sally’s personality as well as Jack’s while adding a little more to all the other side characters we’ve come to love。 The storyline held mystery and adventure and the surprise reveal of Sally’s past had me gasping in shock。 The book was very fast paced and a quick read！ On a more technical level， there seemed to be a lot of redundancy。 I would come across a statement and a few pages/ minutes later it would be repeated in the same context but different paragraphs。 This was my only complaint。 Thanks so much NetGalley and Disney Audiobooks for the ARC audiobook to read and review！ 。。。more

Thank you Netgalley and Disney Books from providing me with this early release audiobook in exchange for my honest opinion。This audiobook was very entertaining with the sounds before each chapter -- it made the audiobook feel magical。 I never thought I needed another story in the Night Before Christmas series， but I guess I did。 I was taken by surprise in regards to the different realms that are mentioned in this book。 I was happy that we revisited with a lot of the original characters from The Thank you Netgalley and Disney Books from providing me with this early release audiobook in exchange for my honest opinion。This audiobook was very entertaining with the sounds before each chapter -- it made the audiobook feel magical。 I never thought I needed another story in the Night Before Christmas series， but I guess I did。 I was taken by surprise in regards to the different realms that are mentioned in this book。 I was happy that we revisited with a lot of the original characters from The Nightmare Before Christmas。 Without spoiling anything， I can say that this book does focus on how Sally's life began， and how she grows as a character。 I definitely recommend this book if you are a Nightmare Before Christmas fan -- audiobook preferably because it is so much fun！ 。。。more

I was granted audio ARC access to Long Live the Pumpkin Queen by Shea Ernshaw through the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review。 Thank you for the approval！ My thoughts are my own and my review is honest。 Long Live the Pumpkin Queen is a story in the world of Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas， taking place a year or more in the future from the original film and told from the point of view of Sally。 Now Jack's blushing bride， Sally loves her husband dearly and will fo I was granted audio ARC access to Long Live the Pumpkin Queen by Shea Ernshaw through the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review。 Thank you for the approval！ My thoughts are my own and my review is honest。 Long Live the Pumpkin Queen is a story in the world of Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas， taking place a year or more in the future from the original film and told from the point of view of Sally。 Now Jack's blushing bride， Sally loves her husband dearly and will follow him anywhere。 When he proposes visiting a new holiday town they've never visited before， Valentine's Town， Sally is nervous and unsure but borrows her husband's bravery and goes along。 When they accidentally find their way into a town full of dreams， the Sandman is unleashed on the other towns， and Sally seems to be the only waking person left。 Can she save everyone？ I love the idea of more adventures in Tim Burton's world， and the opportunity to read from Sally's point of view was quite intriguing。 I wish it ended up being everything the premise promised， but the first third of this book is a whole lot of exposition about the world and Sally and Jack's relationship that accomplishes very little。 In short， the first third of this book moves very slowly and only serves to establish that Sally is now a shy， helpless waif rather than the fierce independent woman we met in the film。 If I weren't reviewing， I would have given up on this book before it got good， and before Sally found herself again。 The action does pick up after the first third， and the latter two-thirds are full of the adventure and strong Sally I expected。 If you're reading this book and you're currently unimpressed with the beginning， keep going！ I promise it gets better。This was presented as YA when the review opportunity came up， and a story in the world certainly has the potential to be YA， but the reading level is very middle-grade。 I reviewed the audiobook， so I should comment on the narration as well。 Cissy Jones has made a valiant effort to sound like Sally from the film， but the effort falls short。 I wouldn't have minded at all if Cissy read in her own natural voice and the narration didn't sound like Sally at all， but the high-pitched almost-Sally voice was so grating that I think in this case I must recommend the print or eBook version of this book instead。 This is not a complaint about the finer points of the narration， I can tell Cissy is likely a very good audiobook narrator， but the attempt at performing Sally's voice while narrating just doesn't work。 。。。more

I happened to see this book at a Comic Con booth the other day。 I have owned this book for less than 48 hours and I have spent every possible moment I’ve had to read it。 It mixed my love of Nightmare Before Christmas with the nostalgia of loving fan-fiction as a child。 I’m in love！！！

I liked this！ I got the audiobook from NetGalley to review early and enjoyed it。 It’s cool to see Sally’s own story and how she finds herself after having a personal crisis as well。 Also really cool to see a lot of the other towns or at least pieces of it！ There were parts of this book with the villain that were really creepy， but it was done well。 I liked getting more of Sally’s origin story as well。 Overall a really fun read， especially if you like a The Nightmare Before Christmas！

The Nightmare Before Christmas is my all time favorite Halloween movie。 When I saw this book announced I was so excited！ I also had really high hope for it and let me tell you that it loved up to all my hopes and more。This is truly Sally’s story。 It’s so fun seeing the world through her eyes。 Sally and all the characters we love from Halloween town definitely feel true to the film。 Shea Ernshaw was able to perfectly capture the spirt of everyone。Sally and Jack are perfect together。 But， what we The Nightmare Before Christmas is my all time favorite Halloween movie。 When I saw this book announced I was so excited！ I also had really high hope for it and let me tell you that it loved up to all my hopes and more。This is truly Sally’s story。 It’s so fun seeing the world through her eyes。 Sally and all the characters we love from Halloween town definitely feel true to the film。 Shea Ernshaw was able to perfectly capture the spirt of everyone。Sally and Jack are perfect together。 But， what we really see is Sally coming into her own。 She goes from a shy rag doll how doubts herself to a strong confident character。The magic and the whimsy is all in this story。 I read this in one day I just couldn’t put it down。 It has all the fall and spooky vibes while also being light and perfect for anyone of any age。The writing is so prefect for this world。 It’s magic， it flows， and it just has the certain magical something that transforms the book into a story that reaches out from the page and sucks you in。We get new characters that are so fun to meet。 Overall， this is an easy 5 star read。 I just love this Sally and I cried from happiness once I finished it。 I’ve already pre-ordered 2 copies and will be reading it again， and again，Thank you to NetGalley and Disney Publishing Worlwide for this eARC copy。 。。。more
